Default lil tech help for a raptor

I have an 01 Raptor w/ 11-1 comp. piston, stage 1 hotcam, pro-design pro flow filter (foam) a GYRT slip-on oversized middle intake valve, and running w/ no lid and 180-175 mains, 25 pilots, Gytr needles on the 3rd groove from top. And I am below 3000 feet. NOW>> It runs great as long as it is at full throttle in any gear but at half throttlr and less through whoops or steep hilss it wants to shut off you must pull in the clutch and rev back to keep running. If I go over a good jump it wants to die on the landing. went down on the mains, did the same but flat on top. needle grooves pilots any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like your lean in the midrange. Move the needles up a notch. Check your float level as well.

Check your float level it sounds high or you could have some crud in the carbs.

I will check the float level and change needle settings it starts up great revs great and idles great but if it gets bouncy it starts sputtering. On flat smooth land it pulls through the gears all the way but if you hit a few bumps at low rpms it spits and spats.. lol

What do you mean by the choke spring rotted? By the way 02 trans inside, also thanks for the site, warrior007. That is how it all started then just figured while it is apart well the rest is history now if I can get it tuned in..

The choke cable that runs down from the handle bars to the carb. Sometimes water will get in there from power washing and whatnot. After a while this will rot the spring and it will weaken and break eventually. Its just something to check, Im not saying its your problem since you just had it apart it probably is ok or you would have noticed it. but it can be an intermittent trouble similar to yours and something to check every now and again.

I will check but I am pretty sure it is fine was wondering if maybe the pilots need to be bigger but 1st will change the setting on the needle and see what happens. The problem isnt intermittent it is constant when the bike is getting jarred or bouncing at half or less throttle when wide open its ok.

Some people dont have much luck running without a lid, first check the float levels like sixsixt says, use a vinyl tube connected to the overflow at the bottom of each carb and open the screw. Hold the tube up against the carb and check the level, it should be just a CH above the mating surface of the bowl and carb.

It will take some frustration to get it right without the lid using the CV carbs. PM chimmer on this forum, he has a similar setup as you (but the larger center valve) he has gone through this over and over and finally got it close enough to run real good.
