01 Raptor Tranny
#11
Deal,
I don't know whether you were talking to me or not but I have had no problems from my 01. The only thing ever gone wrong was my one-way gear in my starter went out. Warranty fixed it and other than that my raptor has been trouble free. Wouldn't trade it for anything! My bike gets rode at least 10 hours almost every weekend yearround with about 12 trips to Little Sahara a year involving about 50-80 hrs ride time per trip.

Ya, 02 ratios are different, but if your 01 hasen't gone out by now you should be ok. I think I have posted this 3 times this week, but I will say it again just incase it's true.
Don'et start the 01 in gear and never shift from reverse to first and take off without comming to a complete stop before you shift.

Those two might be the key to longevity. I never do either one. And I'm still using my original one-way and my 01 trans was working perfectly up until I did my 727. Then I replaced them with an 02 set. The 01's that I took out look perfect after 2 1/2 years of duning.

AZ, That's good to know. I ride hard, but I try not to abuse it, so I'm always wondering if everything is still solid inside or if it's on the verge of granading. Hopefully mine is looking just as good.

I don't think the 01 tranys are all that bad, they're just more suseptible to abuse. I ride with this one guy who bought a 01 Rappy brand new and his favorite thing was to go as fast as he could in reverse then kick it into first and dump the clutch to see how big of a roost he could make. He was good at it too, but when his trany exploded doing about 40 down a gravel road and he ate it in the ditch he blamed it on the 01 piece of crap trany. Of course he told the dealer he never abused it and cried when they told him they would warrent the labor, but not the parts.
