Help please. I bought a new YFZ 450 and the pipe is glowing red hot after about 10 min. of very easy riding. I am using 100 octane fuel and am not pulling any hills or anything. What is the problem? maybe jetting? Do I need to take it back to the dealer, I hope not because it is a 4 hour drive one way.

 

Don't worry about it. It's normal. Almost everyone has had the same thing happen to them. According to the dealers, they jetted a little lean from the factory, but everything is normal. Maybe you should call your dealer just to be safe, but I've read about 23 posts from people asking the same question. After they all called they're dealers they were told it is normal.

 

make sure the dealer oiled the air filter. An unoiled filter would make you run lean.

 

Thanks, at least I will be able to sleep tonight instead of lying awake wondering. I did check the filter before I rode the first time and it was oiled. I will be calling the dealer tomorrow just to make sure.
