I have an 02 Raptor and when i went to start it today, all it did was make some type of noise(click, click type sound) under the seat when i was pressing the start button. The next time i tried it turned the motor over and it started. So i shut it off jus to try it again before i headed out and it did the same thing, jus clicking and no response, then the third try it started. I checked all the connections under the seat and they all seemed to be tight, has anyone has had this happen or know what the prob. is?? Thanks a lot

 

Sounds like the starter relay

 

starter brushes, that may be what it is...
Local motorcycle shops will rebuild starters for 20-50 bucks..

 

It ISN"T the starter brushes...I have pulled mine and they were in great shape

I havn't heard of anyone actually replacing those brushes for good reason

Thank you for clearing that up, I have never owned a raptor, but i had a moto-4 that would do the same thing wich he describes....also, i used to have a jetski and the starter would freeze up, and would take a few taps to get it going, but i think you are right, its the starter relay
