On dirt it is the same. I have always heard it is best to cross the line in one gear lower than your top gear. Some times in the sand it would work better if I launched in first and short shifted really fast to second and then the same as before. Its kinda nice, cause with the tach I can see which launch and shift RPM works the best.

Off topic. Where did you get the tachometer?

Nope, it is instant. It moves right when you blip the throttle. So far I have not had any problems with leakage other than a couple tiny pieces of Waynoka sand. I love it, and it looks sweet!

Dune, I'm assuming your talking about comp hill at Florence? I race there a fair amount and I always leave in 2nd. If the sand is real soft I can just hammer it and dump the clutch, no bogging. If my bike hooks up good when the sand is wetter and I'm on the tank (got a +4 swing arm too) I just hold the clutch a little off the line to keep the RPMs up. Shift to third as you hit the bottom of the hill and if need be double clutch it then hold it WOT till you hit the top.

treeshot- yes i am talking about comp hill at florence and the reason i start in first is to get my quad to jump off the line as quick as possible.i run ten paddle haulers and i get great traction off the line and as long as i make a quick and smooth shift into second i have found that it gets me out of the hole the quickest.i find very few quads even the really built banshees that can beat me out of the hole but of course with the higher horsepower machines they eventually catch and pass me but at least i get them off the line.

I'm running 20x10x10 9 paddle haulers and I leave faster in second than in first. Plus I don't have to let off when shifting from 1st to 2nd. To each his own though
