well i dunno ive read that a 240 properly set up can beat a stock banshee and run with a piped one. so it might not be that much of lag. 40hp on a very light bike is very impressive. I dont really know what gearing would be best on blaster, mine had 13/40 i think and it did about 65 with 22" tires, it had fmf p/s, reeds, bored .20 over. So i think with 14/38 u could hit 80 but the top end on the 6th gear would be weak.

you dont want to go too fast on a blaster because its soo short. It would be extremely scarey. My friends gets squrielly on dirt roads at the stock top speed even with better tires on it. 40hp is enough to go prolly 95 if you gear it up enough and have enough road..... but why? It will stomp a 400ex, piped, heck anything cept all out souped up 440. It would stomp a mild 440 though and most raptors, even piped ones. But not much more than piped.

I would have to agree with Jackal here... I have owned a couple blasters in my day, and the last thing you want to do is get those things to fast. They aren't made to compete with full size high performance machines. There lite and fast, but unless you have a short destiny with death itself you might want to try and keep that thing from sub 80 mph speeds. I'm not saying it can't be done, but why would you want to dump that much money into a blaster extended a-arms, swing arm, and axle just to even try and handle that type of power? DO you realize how sucidile that would be to try and keep a blaster maintained at that type of speed? One small bump and you would be in a hospitol for sure. Just go and invest half that much money into banshee and easily obtain that speed. I never understood why anyone would invest so much money into a mid range sport ATV anyway. IF you really want something faster and for less money ultimately there are alot of other ATV's out there. Good Luck!

Personally I was in my banshee doing 85 next to my safari van with my old 15/41 gearing. With the 17/41 gearing, I am hoping for about 95 to 96 mph. Ive had it topped out on a dirt road with the new gearing, but nothing to measure it with. But the entire quad around the power band in 6th gear got the shakes and I backed off.

well i know that its short, but ive had it to full speed stock and it didnt seem bad at all, it was very stable and turned easily. i did hit a dip and dropped about 6 inches which was a little scary cause i didnt know it was coming, it was in the dunes and hard to distinguish. i want a good top speed, at least 70. i know 80 is too much to ask and would sacrifice a lot of rideability at slower speeds with such high gearing, so i think ill settle with 70-75. i dont plan on riding this thing full out on some skinny dirt backroad. im talking about wide open flat sand. i am also gonna widen the front +2 and the rear +4 and get a +4 swingarm so it should be pretty stable. i know 70-75 is fast, but what bikes is it faster than? i know a stock raptor and banshee are about 77, and that a 400ex is 64. what about kfx/z400 and predator and 250R? also, im not gonna sell my blaster and get somethin else, i dont need a banshee. it would be nice, but i dont need one. i just got my blaster so im not in a hurry to sell it. ill just mod the hell out of it and sell it when i get so insane that 40 hp and 70mph isnt enough.

I remember back in 1990, A guy here in my county had a Quadracer 500, with different sproket's and jet's, we were friends with a highway patrolman at the time and the guy was also a part time employee at our local airport, it is a small one not ones like you think, the trooper went with him and clocked him on the runway at 103 mph, that is what they said and the trooper backed him up, I don't think they would lie about it it was a 1989 model 500, I heard that why they stopped making them , was the cpsc said they were too fast now the manufacts. have agreed to not make a atv that will run over 75 mph in stock form......can anyone back up this speed and confirm that the 500 quadracer would in fact run 100 mph........

There is no way the 500 quadracer in stock form would run 100mph. There top speeds weren't much that faster than a banshee. The 500's best attribute was its torque hence the extra CC's. Can you make an LT500 go that fast? OF course... but not with stock gearing and probably not without some motor work.

Stock LT500 top speed is 79. I’m confident that you could get one to do 103 with just gearing changes. You would lose a lot on bottom end but with 51hp stock, it would still do allright.

Think about it this way. LT250= 326lb and around 30hp easily breaks 70 by going up 1 tooth on the front. LT500 = 386 and 51 hp already does 79. Its only 60lb heavier than the LT250 but has over 20 more HP and a tremendous amount more torque.

Some say it can’t be done due to wind drag. But if that were so than my truck with far more drag and far lower HP per pound would not be able to easily break 100.

The only reason I’m not going to find out when I get mine running is that I don’t want to buy another set of tires just for that, I don’t trust normal off road tires anywhere near that speed and mine will be modded before it runs so it would not be a fair test.

if a 326 lb. LT250 with 30 hp can "easily" break 70 with a 1 tooth larger front sprocket, why is everyone saying it would be hard for my 325 lb blaster with 40 hp to hit 75-80 with larger front and smaller rear sprockets?

My Banshee at the end of the 1000ft drag strip went just over 88mph. That was with a 16-42 gear ratio. It would go a little faster by the end of the 1/4 mile since it was not completely topped out.Bubba
