i found a 98 wolverine w/ a warn 2500 winch. he wants $3000. but it needs valve seals. is it worth getting ? i would be trading my 01 trailblazer and cash

 

If its in good shape...most likely you wont go wrong.

 

Why does he say it needs valve seals? It may be because it smokes when started. This is an indication the motor may need a rebuild. I'd let this one go by unless you can get him down in price dramatically.

 

Yeah, that, or that it was badly maintained and he had the air filter fall off or get so dirty that dirt and contaminants passed by the air filter trashing the engine... Which means he didn't take much care of the quad in the first place, them things should take a beating with barely ever having a problem as such... Everything else should wear first, that's an indication of abuse IMO....

 

my dads a machanic and he said its prolly has a ton of miles like over 10,000 or i might of ran out of oil. but he said the same things yuo all said to. iam looking at it on monday or tuesday. its at a dealer and he wont put the seals for free b4 i but it. he said this is his exact words " if i have to put money into it then i higher the price " as in he has it in the shop he will charge the buyer mors for the labor of it being in the shop. where can i find a new or used motor for it. thanx for the replys

PASS!! There are LOTS of used ones out there, with less obvious problems. Don't get behind the 8 ball to start with. Just be patient and look around.

Yeah 3G's is a little high for a 98, especially if it needs work.
