Bubba297 - Its called Volumetric Efficiency. You are 100% correct with your theory. The engine will continue to make more torque up to a point but its limited due to the fact that a good venturi cannot be created through the head because the intake ports are too small and cannot get enough air into the combustion chamber. Even if for some reason It did it would still be held up in the exhaust ports. When the venturi through the head is the at its strongest, thats when the engine makes its maximum horsepower.

I would say go with a Craycraft port job and a larger cam, like Hotcams Stage 2 or similar. That thing will naturally make so much torque down low that a huge cam will not hurt it too much, just open up the top end.

The Carillo titanium rod is stronger, lighter and will last longer than the stock rod. The Carillo forged rod is stronger and will last longer than the stock rod, but it weighs more. You already have a heavy rotating assembly, so the lighter, stronger rod will be best if you can afford it. About $800. Make sure you have the rotating assembly ballanced at a really good machine shop. Preferably one that builds alot of high HP car engines or a specialty quad shop. That will let you rev a bit higher and will reduce stress and vibration in the engine.

If you have the long dough, you may want to consider having 5 big valves put in. I know Trinity does this, but I am not sure about the other engine shops.

Good luck, and post the dyno results when you get them!

The Ti rod is not made by carillo..and they are backordered 6+ weeks, so you might go with a carillo rod instead if you don't want to wait.

Went up to a set of 39 FCR's, makes 75 RWHP at 7100 and 63 foot lbs of torque at 3500 rpm. This thing is a grunt monster. Once the initial head gasket problem was sorted it runs reliably. It pumps so much torque it completed ripped the centre out of the clutch basket on it first serious WFO try out ! IMPRESSIVE sums it up, 10 hp plus and much much more torque than any of our local 686's. Bike is due to be reviewed in a bike mag down under soon.

Kiwi

I have four questions for you.

1) On what brand of dyno did it make those numbers

2) What camshaft is that engine utilizing

3) What is its compression ratio

4) What type of fuel is it using
