Default Raptor cam sprocket alignment question

I am installing my new cam and I have one more question. The 3 dots do not line up correctly. If I put the chain in one position then the left (front) dot is a little above the plane of the head, and the right (rear) dot is a little below the plane of the head. We are talking maybe 3mm from perfect. That is with all the cam chain tension at the front of the engine. If I let off the tension then the two dots line up perfectly.

If I advance the chain one notch clockwise (turn the cam gear counter clockwise), then the right dot is below the head, and the left dot is above the head, maybe 4mm or so. When I let off the tension the difference is even more pronounced.

I am assuming that the first way is correct, and that maybe my cam chain is stretched a little or something so that is why everything doesn't line up perfectly.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like you have it right the first time. Make sure you are holding the crank at top dead center as it has a tendency to want to drop a little from TDC while not supported by the cam.
