Buying new quad... YFZ450 or Raptor...
I am buying a new quad soon, and I wanted everyone's opinion on which one I should get, the Raptor or the YFZ450. I would describe the type of riding I do as aggressive or performance-like trail riding. I will probably have to be riding some ditches, too. I live in midwestern Minnesota. There are also some motocross tracks around here that we ride with dirtbikes and quads. I am also factoring in price. Is the higher price on the YFZ450 worth it? I called a dealer for a quote and I can get a 2004 Raptor for $5408 out the door with the keys in my hand, all fees and charges paid. From what I have found, I don't think I will find a better deal than that. Thanks everyone for all of your opinions.

That is a great price on the rappy, I paid a little over $5600 OTD for my 2003. Raptor is great for trail riding and with a few mods to suspension, axle, and a arms.....I believe it would do ok on the mx track, though still not in the league of yfz or the new honda 450 coming out. Just my $.02

I finally test rode the 450. Hmmm.....gave me a warm fuzzy feeling!
That thing feels as powerfull as the raptor, and out of the box, it handles.
Its definately my next bike.
The raptor is definately a superb allround machine that accells at all riding discaplines.
I see no reason the 450 wont be any different. You must remember it is designed purely with the track in mind. It is not as plush a ride as the rap is, but some susspension adjustments should change that.
I love my Rap to bits, but if i didnt have a quad, and was buying a new one, Id definately go for the 450.
Its everthing a quad should be (light and powerfull)
you cant go wrong with either. Ride them both and let that be the decieding factor. Dont forget the Z400,
although in my opinion you will have to get the big bore kit to be in the same league.
good luck....

Thanks for all of the opinions. With all of them so different, I think I am going to test drive each one and make a decision from there. Also, how does the performance and handling of each Yamaha quad compare to that of a Polaris Predator?? I live in a small town, where everyone knows everyone pretty much, and there are three predators around, all owned by three of my friends. I don't really want to buy something that will get beat time and time again by one of their Predators. Also, I was thinking about taking a look at the Honda TRX450R when it is released.... What does everyone think??
