Default NEED EXPERT ADVICE ON RAPTOR CLUTCH!

BURNED UP MY CLUTCH ON MY RECENT TRIP TO SILVER LAKE DUNES.....NEED A BETTER THAN STOCK SETUP....ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!

HERE'S MY SETUP:
01 RAPTOR
FULL PIPE
JETTED-HOLES IN AIRBOX
HOT CAMS STAGE 1
22" SPIDER TRACKS

LOOKING FOR SOME EXPERT ADVICE ON WHICH CLUTCHES WORK WELL WITH MODS AND WHICH ONES DO NOT....

DO I NEED NEW PLATES AND FRICTION MATERIAL?
DO I NEED A NEW BASKET TOO?
DO I NEED A BETTER PRESSURE PLATE?

I SAW HINSON'S BASKET AND PLATE, BUT NO CLUTCHES. I SAW BARNETTE CLUTCHS AND SPRINGS BUT NO BASKET AND PLATE.

PLEASE HELP! THANKS!

Well - the setup that works well for many people is a Hinson clutch basket with a Barnett clutch - I have the Dirt Digger......this is a great setup for racing....you just have to get used to the stiffer springs!

GYT-R kit and if you need to replace the basket get the Hinson. Do a search, there was a thread in the last month or so with the answers to all your questions.

I started the other thread by asking the same question, "what's best?" I've got a couple of tanks of gas through the GYT-R clutch and GYT-R/Hinson basket on my 686 12:1 Stage 2 Craycraft engine. With a nickel's width of free play, Neutral is possible but not easy (perfect:-), with a dime's width, Neutral is as easy as stock. That combo has been consistent and reliable, I recommend it.

I'm extremely happy with my setup. Hinson basket, stock Yamaha clutch plates, and Barnett springs. The clutch lever isn't much harder to pull than stock, and it has zero slippage. My current clutch/02 trans combo shifts better than my 416EX does.

If you have to get a new basket get a Hinson or GYTR (Hinson makes both, and I think they are the same price). I went with a Sparks clutch that comes with springs and fibers, but you re use your stock metal plates, which may be a problem if yours are warped. I would go with either Sparks or GYTR. Definetly not Barnett, though, I have heard some pretty ugly stories of metal shavings frying engines.
You can get both from Bob Craycraft.
