Raptor Piston, Cam, and Port---How much more grunt?
#1
I am considering adding some more grunt to my Raptor. Right now I have a slip on, K&N air filter, and a GYT-R jet kit. I am considering a 10.75 piston, stage 1 hotcam, and porting. If anyone has this setup how much did it help? Do you think I would need to add the headpipe or would my slip on work fine with this set up? I am trying to get a little more performance while still keeping it reliable. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I had the say basic setup you have, and I didn't see the huge gains untill I went to a full system......
the piston, cam, and porting deffinatley made a difference but when I went to the full system it was like a whole new bike......
I don't think that I would waste my time with the stage one cam......that is what I have and I am going to put in a stage two very soon......
I guess it just depends on what kind of ridding you do.....

Put a stage II hotcam in, forgo the stage I. Also, yes you will need to upgrade to a new headpipe to take advantage of the increased airflow capabilities of your motor if you would like to maximize the performance.

another thing.......get up with bob craycraft or curtis sparks for the porting......I have heard NOTHING bad about them........except it always takes sparks a long time......and Craycraft is a lot faster.....

I called sparks last year and put my name on an engine building list, I have heard nothing. They told me it would be over a year before I heard anything. Bob and his crew on the other hand, are really friendly, answer all of your questions, cool as hell, and if you have been on the board anytime you actually got to watch them grow from riders to race shop. They have a rep that precedes them.
