Default How low is to low?

Obviously the lower tyre presure used in the dunes using stock tyres and rims could cause a tyre to dislodge and the bead to break. So what psi in the tyres is reccommended for this not to occur??

I think the manual says 4 pounds, which seems pretty low to me. You could probably go 3 and be ok.

the reason for such low pressure in the manual is to protect the tire from damage. like sharp rocks . i adjust mine to were i am riding. on the street i use 10 psi in rocky places i use 3 psi and sand is the same..

It does say the minimum tyre pressure on the fenders and manual........ but im sure they would give and take a few psi for safety reasons, as you all know safety is the owners manual priority and they do go way overboard!, who listens to them anyway. There's not many sharp rocks on the dunes, so anyware between 2-4 psi is good? Thanks

We drag race with the Dunlop radials and I have run as low as 1.5lbs and no problem. The radials unlike other tires can be run extremely low and make a wide contact patch almost wrinkling like a slick. When we run at the local sandbar I only run 2.5lbs. The bead is also different and wont try to seperate from the rim.Bubba
