Default decisions decisions....

I'm soon to get a new quad and it is going to be a raptor or yfz.
The only thing I need help on is deciding which one.
I mean if I put 2000-3000 in either one which one will have the better turn out.
For example like pipe, jets, filter, and basic engine mods.
And are the yfz's really that bad in the trails? Because i'll be riding alot of them. And some dunes.

I sat on a raptor at the dealer the other day and it felt a heII of a lot better than my warrior...lol
But they didn't have the yfz on the showroom floor...but they have one.

I'm sure i'll be happy with either one but I'm picky...lol

Here is my suggestion for what its worth. There are many places in the states where you can get a NEW RAptor from anywhere from $5200-$5800. (NOT HOUSTON THOUGH) Anyway, A new YZF Is what, $6900? So lets say you got a new rappy for $5500. That is a savings of $1400 that you can put to all the mods you want. With $1400 the raptor will lay the smack down on the YZF and you could probally even through in a pair of new front shocks with the money saved. And the raptor is a better trail bike. Point being, yes the YZF is bad and fast, but if you plan on modding your bike and you aren't planning to be a pro MX racer, then I would get a raptor at a good price, and then use the money I saved over the YZF on mods...this is all assuming price is an issue and to me it would be. Just my .02cents.

Here is my experience between the two. Both machines are a blast, with the yfz being the more "specialized" of the two. My Raptor has more low-end torque than my friends yfz, but his has a stronger "pull" in the mid to topend. In the drag that we ran this weekend he would slightly pull away from me the further into the run we went(not humiliatingly so, but still none the same). The yfz has MUCH better suspension for MX, and seems to be more neutral in the air. If your going for a bike specifically for MX I would say the yfz hands down. If your looking for a "do it all" machine, i'd go with the raptor. They are both a blast to ride. With the total grin/money no option nod going to the yfz. Like Mr.Monk has stated if your looking to be conservative on the all mighty dollar I'd go with the Raptor. If money is not a problem I'd go with the yfz with out a second guess. Both are fun, with the yfz being the most state of the art fun.
