Default High compression Raptor/Grizzly piston

I have a 2001 raptor that I ride in the dunes and two 2003 grizzlys that I ride on trails and in the dunes. I haven't had any problems with the Raptor's transmission yet other than the spacing between 1st and 2nd gears - the 12 tooth sprocket helps. I would like to change to the 2002 gearing and while I'm in there I would like to raise the compression to as high as I can, and still run pump gas. I would also like to raise the compression on at least one of the Grizzlys - I built adapter/spacers for the rear and run paddles on it (56 inches wide - almost impossible to tip over). The Grizzly will climb fairly well in the dunes as long as the hill is not too high and I can get my speed up - I can climb straight up and out of Dead Horse bowl and almost to the top of Thunder mountain at St Anthony but I can't climb Chokecherry or the face of Sand Mountain at Little Sahara in Utah. My stock raptor is faster than any other stock raptor I have raced, but I rode a YFZ450 and raced my son (100 pounds lighter then me) on my raptor up Chokecherry and the YFZ450 won when the raptor had to shift to 1st gear near the top - as long as the raptor would hold 2nd, it was pulling away from the YFZ450. I would like to improve the climbing performance in the dunes on both the Raptor and the Grizzly. My question is what compression ratio can I run in the raptor and the grizzly and still use pump gas - 91 octane at this elevation (4000 ft minumum but close to 5000 feet at the dunes). The stock compressionon is 9.1 on the grizzly, 9.2 on the raptor and 11.9 on the YFZ450 (the YFZ requires high test pump gas and the grizzly and raptor can use regular gas). I have gone the avgas/race fuel route with my LT500 Quadracer and am tired of the expense and inconvenience. If the YFZ450 can run pump gas at 11.9, can the Raptor and Grizzly do the same, especially at this elevation or will I have to be satisfied with the 10.75 piston? If I do run the 10.75, can I get away with 87 octane at this elevation? While I'm modifying the raptor, which cam would be better in the dunes, the hotcam stage 1 or stage 2 and how much better. I have no idea if either of these cams would physically fit in the grizzly or which would give me the power band best for the automatic transmission and what kind of cultch kit would work in the Grizzly for dune use without giving up and trail or utility work ridability. I appologize for the long post and many questions. If anyone has answers for any of my questions, please respond. If you want to Email directly the address is dwrobel@relia.net

Thanks,

Dan Wrobel

on the raptor, at 5000ft I think you can run 12:1 on pump gas.....ask patsraptor....I think he runs this.......
I currently run the stage one cam.....and I don't like it......not enough top end......
I am soon going to order a stage two as soon as I sale this web cam........if it doesn't sale then I will use it.....
I called the place that I bought it from and they said that there would be a $60. restocking fee if I returned it......SHIZ I was pissed.....LoL
