if a cdi box goes out will you still have a spark at the plug?

 

If your ignition fails then you can't have a spark. The spark goes from your igntion to the wire to the plug.

starts in the stator, travels to the cdi box, then out to the coil and finishes strong at the spark plug.

 

I have seen bad CDI units that still spark...whats the problem?

With elec problems you need to use an ohm meter and spec out the stator
pu coil
ignition coil
if these all test within factory specs replace the CDI...there are no good ways for the average person to check a CDI
