Default Need Help: Chain adjusting/installation

well im replacing my chain and sprocket on my 01 Raptor. Sidewinder gives you more than you need. so i have to trim to size. I have a chain breaker and a grinder so i have no problems there.

my questions are

1. when adjusting/installing the chain...where should the jack stand be on the quad. A) under the engine, so the swing arm is fully extended. or B) under the swingarm so it is compressed.

2. when sizing up the chain. where should i reset the adjustment scale. (grooved scale on swingarm). where it's a new chain and sprocket...should i set it/adjust it to the very top of the scale so i have the full scale length/travel to adjust the chain in the future. or should i set it somewhere in the middle. and if so why?

3. any tricks to figure out the length of the chain quickly.

4. when replacing the rear sprocket...they recommend replacing the Nuts and studs which fasten the sprocket to the Carrier. any tips in removing the old ones and installing the new ones. (my plan was to just put vice grips on them and spin them out. installing the new ones will need a more suttle technique.)

I need to get back up and riding...so please repond with help.

1) I adjust it with the tires on the ground.
2) Towards the front so you have plenty of adjustment left. Just make sure you leave some room for some slack.
3) The chain is the last thing to put on. Just put the chain on the sprockets and see where you need to cut it.
4) I wouldn't worry about replacing the nuts and bolts on a raptor.

I would. Make sure you have about an inch of up and down movement in the chain before you cut it. Measure twice cut once.
