I just got my 4 wheel atv action, and they had the new yamaha in there. It is called the Raptor, a 660cc 5 valve liquid cooled 4-stroke with two 33mm carbs but has a lighter thumb throttle than the banshee. It is a manual 5 speed but get this it has reverse and weighs 399 lbs. They asked him how fast it was compared to the ds650 and they said comparing the raptor in a drag to the ds is like comparing the ds to a 400ex. So this thing is going to fly it has around ten inches of wheel travel. I just got back from the ducks unlimited outdoor festival and i talked to the parts rep about it. He told me his friend at itp rode it and said it was wild. This guy is not biased to yamaha either he told me he owns 7 trx 250r's. The retail is 6200 that is a good price, the release is expected to be in august or september. So all as i can say is goodbuy LT250R and hello Raptor I am going to the dealer tommorrow and reserving one. Anybody want to buy a quadracer?

How sweet! I want one. I always thought all sport quads should have a reverse gear! You didn't mention elec start, but I'm sure they wouldn't leave that out. I'd hate to kick a 660, but att 399 lbs with elec start and a reverse gear wow. I think I'll be putting my 400EX up for sale. Anyone know about vehicle width? The Bomb DS650 is too big for the woods, hope the new Yamaha will fit between the trees!

Like comparing a DS650 to a 400EX huh? I'd like to see how it compares with a Banshee since everyone argues about Banshees and DS650's already. Should be good!

Any word on how they kept the weight at 399lbs. when a DS650 comes in at 460lbs? Aluminum swingarm? Aluminum frame? If all this is true, there will be one in my garage, next to the trusty 95Warrior.

Your overall width and length measurements are smaller than a 400EX.... That doesn't sound right, the machine looked much larger than an EX...

If it is proportioned close to the EX and handling is up to par, I may have to check into one!

It's gotta fit between the trees for me too...

I saw the pictures, this thing looks great, i am a big polaris guy, but if half of these rumors are true then it sounds like there will be nothing even close to the raptor, if the price isnt way up there then one of them would really look good in my garage

yuou guys are forgetting a qaud now aren't you. the LT500R the fastest mass produced qaud ever made (according to 4 wheel atv action) my dad has one with a FMF pipe silencer, ram valve, porting, and now a wiseco +.80 piston now (he just got it going again yesterday) he raced a stock DS650 (when he had a worn out piston)and he smoked it. the only qaud that has beatin him is a long rod banshee it had stock bore but a longer rod and cylinder spacer plate, toomey pipes and the biggest advantage paddles. but I am not making excuses but I think woith the new piston and some paddles my dad might win.oh yea did I mention my dads zilla lofts the front end up in 5 gear.

IF ITS THE DIMENTIONS YU SAY THEN I'LL DEFFINATLY HAVE TO THINK ABOUT GIVING UP ON MY WARRIOR. MOST EVERYBODY HAS TOLD ME TO GIVE UP ON MY TRUSTY YAMAHA AND GET A 400EX BUT WHEN IT COME TO GETTING THROUGH TIGHT WOODS I WALK AWAY WHILE THE 400 IS HITTING TREES. PLUS I LOVE MY REVERSE IT HAS COME IN HANDY MANY TIME DURING RACES WHEN YOU CGET CAUGT UP IN BOTTLE NECKS AND TECHNICAL AREAS THAT POSE PROBLEMS FOR OTHER RIDERS.
