Default tire size for blaster

Thinking about getting new tires for the blaster. Should I get a smaller tire for the rear or will this effect the performance of the quad??

thanks,
skinns

Go with a 20in. But if your going to run MX you can run 18in. but you won't have any clearance.

Thanks for the response. Why would 18's be better for moto><. does a smaller wheel increase bottom end?

thanks,

I had 18 inch holeshots on my quad when I first bought it. they looked cool and gave my blaster some low end put I had absolutly no ground clearance. On a track though 18 inchers are fine.

for mx, smaller is usually better, but yes it will affect the performance of your quad, your accel. will be slightly slower, and your top speed will be affected as well. for mx though, you really dont worry about top speed, so 18's should be fine.

smaller tires help accel and drop top speed.

smaller tires let the engine turn them faster because they weigh less, but thats mainly just more wheelspin, which can amount to better accel, but only if you can get traction. but yes, under certain circumstances, youre right, smaller tires do help accel.

18" tires will drop your maximum speed by quite a bit. i have 20" trekkers and i have some but not many clearance problems with them. if you go to 18s you will want to re gear as well for sure

So if you go to a 20in wheel you should add a tooth on the front sproket or loose a tooth. I think I will definitly go with the 20's because I ride mostly on trails. I bought the Quad new in april and the stock tires have held up pretty good considering their crap. Seems Like I'm pluging holes every time I go and ride.

Thanks for the Help,
