Default ign. timing vs starting

Am I correct in thinking an advanced ign timing will be harder to start? This is on methanol if it matters.

I have my flywheel off right now. I am thinking about trying an advanced key for it, just to see. BUUUuuut if it is going to be much harder to start there is alomst no point.

TIA!!!

I don't know about methanol but I was told not to use an advance key while running high compression it causes detonation

You are correct, advancing the ignition will make it harder to turn over and start. Builds more cylinder pressure before TDC.

Thanks for confirmming Shady.

FireFly, true it can. BUT methanol likes to have the igntion advanced some, power wise anyway, and it also combats the detonation problems.

I guess I am going to have to get a DYNA or Vortex ign. and either find a curve with low or no advance under 1,500 rpm, or program one to do that.
Anybody have any lucky lotto numbers they want to share???
