Check out what I found while snooping Yamaha's European web-site... the next generation XT660R bike and new engine (same bore and stroke as current 660 engine, but everything else has been changed).

Engine Link...

Pretty slick!
Did you see the location of the spark plug? (on the clutch side picture)

TX you know if you stand on your head with you tonque sticking out the left side of your mouth, the bolt will come off and the so will the cover withOUT having to jack up the engine.

I see the new motor has lost a valve.

LOL I know, I did it yesterday lol I'm not sure how I'm gonna get it back on there, and I'm really not sure how I'm gonna tighten that bolt

That bolt is a pain in the ****. I think last time I had to get it off I used a gear wrench from the swingarm side, left it in the hole and took the cover off with it in there.

Maybe notch that corner out, heh!

This motor looks HOT, I wonder if the head fits and if the bike will be sold in the states.

I think that bolt needs to stay sitting in its hole in the cover, while you put the cover in place. Rather than put the cover on then try and finagle the bolt in. It should be short enough to do that.

I also looked at the specs. 48HP and a 44mm throttle body.

Think the head would be interchangable?
