Running 108 to 110 octane then switching back to 91 ..is it bad?
#1
I have a 2003 Banshee with TR6 Toomeys on it..and for Glamis..I wanted to run 108-110 octane. Now..I have had the bike and ran for about 20 hrs now..and have ran nothing but 91 octane with Castor 927 oil premix.
Will this effect my motor..if I run the 108-110 octane ..then after switch back to runnin 91 octane again?
Thanks for any input you guys can help me with

If your bike is stock (compression wise) the 108-110 octane fuel would do you no good and you could even loose power. I would stick with the 91.
P.S. no it won't hurt it but jetting is going to be different for both fuels.

hmm...I always though..more octane=more hp. I do know that when the compression is higher...the definate need is more octane in that case.
Im not insulting your opinion..however is this from personal experience?
Thanks

Why were you wanting to do this? Is it for a performance gain, or extra assurance against detonation? If its to combat any possible problems from the extra load, I think it wouldn't hurt(race gas will make it run slightly cooler), but as Lowbowtie said you won't notice any performance gains from the race gas.

What do you guys think?

You will see NO performance gains switching to race gas. The higher the octane the slower it burns. A hi comp engine burns faster, so slower burning fuel is needed, i.e. race gas. If you run race gas in a stock comp motor, all you are doing is unnecessarily slowing the burning. To make the most power, run the lowest octane that does not knock or ping. Cheaper, too!
As far as cooling down your engine temps, you could get a couple in line coolers, billet impeller, or even go as far as a bigger radiator. For what you are doing, however, I would just buy some Engine Ice coolant or something like it and give your bike a cool down period when you feel it is getting too hot. Just my opinion.

I know from personal exsp. For cooling I would add some watter wetter from redline in the radiator. That would be your best effort.

any references as to where to get some "Engine Ice Coolant"? I just want to be prepared thats all..for this is the first time going to Glamis..and seeing that sometimes my banshees gets hot here in the 90 degree weather..I assume ..in soft sand..having to keep the R's high all the time..that I would see some overheating problems.
Thanks again guys

Do a search on Yahoo or just go to the nearest ATV shop if you can, they should have some. It is kind of expensive, but is pre mixed and bio degradable.
Are you planning on running paddles?
