Change that sucker! Especially because it's not broke in yet. This way you can check and make sure gears/clutch plates aren't shredding and floating around in the crankcase. I change mine after every weekend of hard riding. After every race, too.

Default Oil Change or not?????????

Ok...thank all of you guys for the input....Now i have read the manual....i take it i drain the case and oil take....then fill oil tank with right amount of oil....Isn't this going to cause the engine to have a dry start??????? Any suggestions on changing oil would be helpful....I must add it appears to be a pain in the $#@$ to change the oil...Thanks guys

First thing is to decide mess or not. No oil mess you will need to take the skid plate off the bottom to access the drain bolt and devise a funnel system for the oil tank drain bolt which is what I have done. I even have a small funnel to put the oil in the tank.

This is for my raptor and yours could be slightly more or less.

After oil dump of both areas I am able to put in 56 oz. of oil. Start motor, let oil circulate for short period of time then engine off.

Add to fill reservoir again Total amount to fill line was 2 qts., 12 oz. and + 4 oz with filter change.

I would use this as a guide line because your oil fill could be different but this is what works for me.

Default Oil Change or not?????????

My cylinder is a testament to changing the oil properly......my raptor has about 250 hours on it and I ride the pizz outta it...but I also change the oil every 2 months regardless of how much I ride it in that time.......
we pulled the cylinder yesterday and it has a mirror finish........my mechanic nearly shat on himself.....he said, "I am glad that everyone doesn't take care of their stuff like you do, I would be outta tha job".....LoL

it had a stock bore 11:1 piston (no being upgraded to a 686, since I realized soon after it was put back together that I didn't have the piston to wall clearances checked........OOOPS!.....)
and even the skirts on the piston are mirrored (with no cleaning to them).......we wipped the carbon off of the top of the piston and it is still mirrored like the skirts

seing this I could never stop changing my oil properly.......

the way I see it, when in doubt, change it!

Default Oil Change or not?????????

the last time I changed my oil I did it at the shop and my boss laughed at me! He said that oil was so clean he would've used it to bake a cake! There's nothing worse than dirty oil circulating through your clutch plates or your crank. I don't always change the filter, either, even though I used to. Gets too expensive at eleven dollars a pop! Every ten-twenty hours of riding I think is perfect to keep your engine super clean inside. After every race a must. Nothing puts more strain on your engine and heats oil up faster than a twenty minute moto.
I am looking for a deeper oil filter if anyone can help. I bought one from my local yamaha shop and they gave me the wrong filter by mistake. It must've been for a dirtbike or utility quad maybe because it was considerably deeper. However, it did spin right on so I used it anyways. I asked them about it and they couldn't trace it down again. Does anyone know of any bike or other filters that cross over?
