What is your reaction to the RAPTOR?

Yeah, I was disappointed in the suspension travel, and what was said about the dimensions. I like the ground clearance and handles(by the looks of it), though. It will, however, probably smoke anything. With all that said about the Raptor, then looking at the DS, personally the DS650 is on top to me so far. I'd rather have the stability(as long as it can maneuver in the trails, which, from what I've heard, the DS can), and LONG suspension travel. I also think the DS looks way better(wait till you see the Raptor not so squeaky clean: spy pics), smoother, faster, and cooler. We'll see how things turn out, but as of now, I'd definately take a DS650 between the two. To tell you the truth, the Raptor has boosted my liking for the Bombardier WAY up. I appreciate it more. I like how it sits better, looks, and LOVE all the suspension travel. Just what's on my mind. Yeah, I'd for sure take a DS, even if the 660R smokes it.

I was so excited about seeing the specs on the raptor.Am very impressed they chose the 660cc 5-valve twin carb monster motor. But why the jacked up frame setup.Do you realize it is basiaclly same length(72")and height(43-44") as 400ex but 2inches narrower(43" compared to 45.3" for 400ex),by the way its 7inches narrower than the bomber which is 50" wide.Similar travel as 400ex also.seat height is also 2inches higher than 400ex.High sitting rider on narrow quad is scary in fast turns. Why didnt yamaha at least make this thing as wide as 400ex or maybe a little wider, like 47"wide,just between bomber and 400ex.And how about a little more travel.I am very impressed but also disappointed.First thing the raptor will need is +2 a-arms and +4 axle with longer shocks.thats a big chunk of $ to spend on a new quad just to get it it handle like it should have from the factory. As far as it having 10inches of ground clearance,Ok,at the bottom of the frame maybe, but the swingarm is still at the 5inch mark like everybody else.the potential of this quad will be great. The bar has been raised again.

I also agree, I don't think taking corners will be a problem. They engineered this thing with a very low center of gravity. I presume it will handle fine.
Lets give em a chance to get one to our local dealers before we start bashing it. We havn't even had a chance to see a real one yet.
I can't wait to test drive one. I stopped by my dealer and he said he is allready getting a ton of interest in orders. He said there is a good chance that they will charge $1000 over MSRP at first. That totaly sucks... But I guess if he can make a buck he will..

Why don't everyone cry about the new ATV you have even seen one in person yet and you still **** and moan. Gees Yamaha has spent the last 3 years trying to satisfy this growing industry. They put a lot of time and effort into building something that would keep the industry running for years to come. Yet you guys sit here and **** and moan over stupid stuff. So what if it doesn't have 12 inches of suspension what the heck are you going a freaking building. I think that Yamaha has finally started to show they care about their honest customers and I am happy that they have finally responded to all of our suggestions. I think that the new Raptor 660R is going to be an awesome machine.

I am also a little disappointed with the suspension specs and the measurements. I am hoping that the quad is a little wider that what it is listed at(typo). By the way RidE, I had a pretty bad 6th gear get-off yesterday. Broke my back(compression fracture) and my knee is really jacked up. Probably need an operation to fix it. I would be dead if it were not for my full riding gear, helmet has deep gouges and some cracks. Maybe a big wide four stroke would be better for me anyhow.

Man you people really are sad. The new Raptor 660R hasn't even been sold yet and already you guys are pissing and moaning about small stuff. Like who really cares if it doesn't have 12 inch suspension. What the heck are you people jumping with 12 inches of suspension a freaking building. Then you guys complain sitting that high on it with it being just a little narrow. The seat height isn't but 33 inches which isn't high it is only two inches higher than the Banshee. What the heck do you guys want? Me I am happy with the Raptor 660R and I am also happy with the Warrior and the Banshee. And in case you winers haven't noticed they did improve other ATVs like the Warrior it is now oil cooled and has a recoil backup. WAY TO GO YAMAHA YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST

We're discussing this sh*t. That's what this forum is for. A new quad, no, there's nothing wrong with saying what you are concerned about with it. It's obviously the meanest quad ever, but you can wonder about stuff like that it's high/narrow, yet less suspension travel than expected. Bombardier also worked hard on theirs. There's nothing wrong with comparing the two and spotting out the fact that it's got 3 more inches of suspension travel and more ground clearance. It's lost the spotlight, I'm just pointing out why it shouldn't.
