wolverine help?

i have a 99 wolverine in great condition...i changed the oil and cleaned the spark arrester today and when i started it for the first time after it started fine idled fine but severely backfired with throttle...very little power due to the backfiring..very mysterious..ive done nothing else to it but the oil and arrester and also i checked the air filter its fine...how bout some insight someone..its fine until i give it throttle it doesnt stall but backfires...no power??

Might have an exhaust leak when you hit the gas, is sucking in air. Or the pipe may have leaned your mixture out.

Will running lean make one backfire? I would think there's too much gas or not enough fire if it's backfiring??? Anyway...I recently put a pipe on mine and it will occasionally backfire when letting off the throttle after high rev's.

check your parking brake switch you can unplug it by the gas tank and if it runs ok then the swith on the brake perch is bad
