Default Weird noise upon shut down?

Hey guys, I noticed lately that when I shut off my Warrior it makes a kind of kick back noise on the stroke but sometimes it makes a loud clank like it hits something. But when I fire it back up its all normal no problems the bikes runnin strong. Any suggestions what it could be? Thanks in advance.

Just a guess here, but it is feasable that the bike is actually on the compression stroke when it slows and as a result tries to turn backwards to release the pressure in the pressure in the cylinder... the clanking noise you hear could possibly be the starter as the clutch is designed to turn one way and not the other.. .. like I said, just a guess here. I never looked to see just exactly how the starter functions.

Hope this points you in the direction of resolution.

Ride on.

Mine used to do it about half the time. A dull sounding clunk. Dunno if it causes any damage or anything though.

My warrior did it for 5 years. Never a lick of trouble. I would just consider it finally broke in

I had the same cam, but with 12:1 piston

I have had a half dozen Warriors in my time and they all have done that. I believe it is decompression as was stated earlier. Not very nice but is the nature of the beast.
