The only difference is the timing mark on the exhaust cam I think.

The lift and duration on the YZ cam are not any different they are identical. The only difference is the decompression mechanism.

that sounds like a good idea!! If the YZ cam has a better lift and duration than I will pick one up, they are only around 100 bucks. Mine still starts fine now with the decompression mechanism off one tooth. Alot better and easier than my big bore Z400 with no decompression mechanism did!!!

I dont think there are any differences. WR guys have been doing this for years and Yamaha has stated that the YFZ uses a YZ intake cam and a WR exhaust cam. until I hear exact specs of both cams im not spending any money on an a YZ exhaust cam.You can get the exhaust cam from bob @ magnolia tractor for $108. www.magnoliatractorinc.com

Do the cam mod and you will get the same gains as changing the cam. I know some people have had starting problems afterward but mine runs great. Call a yamaha dealer and get the specs and you will see that the lift and duration are identical.
