it may not be the 100% best, but it is what the Manufacturer calls for. If you ever lose your eng and it's under warr, the dealer will probably try and shaft you for not using.

I figure, I change my oil maybe 2 times a year, it doesn't hurt to spend a little extra

Well I use Kendall straight 30 wieght in mine, ever since i did motor mods. On the stock i used yamalube tho, because of warrenty and all that good stuff. After Tranny went out, and it wansnt under warrenty we modded and now i use kendal, works great.

I run Yamalube in mine. I heard the Yamalube has additives for wet clutches and regular engine oil doesn't. If I'm not wrong I think the owners manual says you can run regular oil. I have ran regular 20w-50 Castrol in a Big Bear I used to own with no ill effects.

I use yamalube 4r.......I change my oil every two months regardless if it needs it or not.......since last week when we pulled the jug off.....and it looked PERFECT....I am going to continue doing this.......

there was another raptor sitting right beside mine with the jug off that had been run low of oil..........and it looked like someone took a hammer and chisel to it and went to town......it was awful....

I know you guys are gonna bash me for this, even though I am die-hard yamaha. I run Honda 4-stroke 10/40. Is a really good oil, and I change it religiously. The engine is stock. When I build her, I will probably switch to a higher grade synth or something.

I run regular automotive muti-weight motor oils in all of my ATV's and have never had any problems.

I run Rotella 15W40 with no problems. It's a great oil.
