pulling warrior motor, need tips
#1
hey we are pullin the warrior motor out of my friends quad (the entire powertrain is for sale by the way) i removed all the electrics, headlights, and got all the mounting bolts out but we're havin a little trouble. do i have to remove that little cradle underneath the motor?

I have two Warriors, pulled the motors a total of five times so far (I keep going back in to do something new). Not a big chore. Pull the gas tank, chain, carb and airbox, engine mount bolts and it also helps to pull the two engine mounts that bolt the frame to the head. These hang down and get in the way. The cradle underneath? I assume you mean the engine skidplate? No, it can stay. Once you've removed all of the above (and all electrical connections and cables), then lift it up and tilt it out. Should come out easy (it's pretty heavy though and awkward for one person). If it isn't, look for what it's hanging up on (probably the frame or a motor mount), then twist it around whatever is in the way.

colby thanks for the tips. we removed everything but we were tired and we didn't wanna mess with it too much last night. we did try to move it but it didn't seem like it wanted to come out too easily. we'll give it another try tonite.
warpath- we're putting a 4 cylinder crotch rocket engine in it. probably suzuki gsx 750. my friend owns a bike shop and hes hookin us up with a motor real cheap. its going to be a drag race only quad. we have a huge grass drag competition twice a year up here and we wanna make an open class quad. we had this old dead warrior layin around and so we decided to build a sweet *** dragger.

heres what we did, we took an '86 warrior motor out and stuffed in a GSXR 750 race motor in it. First test will be at Dumont on Halloween weekend.
wow, first post and I had to edit it lol I just fully read the last post and you are thinking of a gsx motor. I will let you know how ours goes next weekend.

How did this swap go? Very Interested. Posted topic earlier, not much response. A friend of mine bought a repo'd 02' warrior for $800 and the trans is junk and some engine parts are missing, but the rest of the bike is intact and in good shape. Anyway, we found a CBR600F3 motor and are going to put this together as a winter project. As I said in my earlier post we have the technology and fabrication skills to pull this off, just wondering about clearance issues or possible snags on a swap like this. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

clearance was a problem but with fab skills you should have no problem. our biggest problem was getting the air to the carbs filtered. Not much room. The chassis over the motor needed to be cut and remounted for space. Our first shot at this, we didnt leave enough room for filters. Plan carefully and make sure you gusset any place possible.

just have lots of patients and fab skills, and the old Warrior will come to life, it's nice to have a custom bike, and know you built it, it's fun smok'in the competition with a Warrior and watching them scratching their heads------SEE YA !!!!!!
