Not sure about running too lean, but running too rich will foul the plugs.

Well if you're talking top end/main jet area here are some clues. If you're running rich, the bike will be blubbery and power will be down. Your plug will be black and sooty.

If you're lean, basically your power will just be down. I have never experienced any other issues with a lean condition on the top. The plug will be white.

Ideally, the plug will have kind of a tannish chocolatey color to it if the jetting is right.

Remember... this is only on the top end... for specific areas let us know what you're dealing with.

Default Too rich/ too lean? How can you tell?

well maybe this will help, i have a warrior and it will pull hard when the throttle is wide open, for a second or two and then begins to cut out or sputter.(this is in 6th gear, and throttle pegged) And about mid to 3/4 throttle it sputters out cuts out a little, this may not even be in the carb, i don't really know. When i just all out get on it, it will pull fine but when i gradually do this it does the sputtering. Basically if it's floored its ok, until sixth gear all the way down on the throttle for 2 or 3 seconds, and then it seems to cut out. I guess it kinda hic-cups around mid to 3/4 throttle, i don't know could it be the rev limiter in 6th, i do have a full titanium 4 exhaust (FMF), stage two jetting, with a K@N and no lid, with stock gearing (sprocket). But i still don't know about the 1/2 to 3/4 throttle sputter. Hope this helps thanks for your help.

What elevation are you at?? Sounds like it might be running a little on the rich side. I see to notice sputtering when you're running rich.

Take a look at your plug and see what it looks like. If it's black then it's rich, if it's bone white then it's lean. I would imagine what happened is that you over jetted your bike for your elevation. I would go back to the instructions that came with your jets and the pipe and see if you can come up with a happy medium.

Good luck!

What main jet size are you at? where do you have your needle set at and is it a dyno needle? I had the same setup on my warrior before and I'm at 700 ft so it should be about the same as I had. I was at a 150 main and had the needle set at the 4th position, which was a little rich so i'd say the clip should have been in the 3rd position.
