My brother just got a 2002 raptor 660 stock. I want somthing that will beat him. Would a stock Banshee out run a stock raptor? What about out of the hole and on top end, which one would win?

 

out of the hole maybe a Shee because raptors wheelie. Top end, It just depends on the track. If it were a longer type of track id put money on the rap. Now if he has a +4-5 inchswing arm or wheelie bar on the rap thats a different story. lol I beat my friends shee 4 out of 5 races but it might be rider skills. His is a 00 Shee and alot of mods, Pipe, 2:1 air intake, timing plate, reeds (i think)... mine is stock. RAPTOR for me unless its a bored out shee or other internal work.

I raced a "mildly" done shee a few weeks ago and whipped him each time we lined up with 2 different riders aboard the shee.

Shee's mods: cool head w/22cc domes, procircuit pipes, oversized pistons (he wouldn't say how large), Kenda knarly tires. He wouldn't comment on what else was done to the quad. One rider weighed 275lbs, the other rider weighed 160lbs. These guys weren't rookies either they both have competed in the local amateur class aboard CR250's and Shee's
My Raptor: GYTR jet kit 160/165 mains, sixsixt intake, HMF exhaust, stock tires. I weigh 200 lbs.

The shee had no chance. Each time we lined up I would smoke it, off the line, half track, and all out until there was no more road. I though for sure that a modded shee would have whipped me.

 

Here is what i have found, having owned almost every 4 stroke and several banshees.

It really depends on the surface and terrain you are talking about.

On flat land, the 4 strokes have a better chance, if it is loose the 4 strokes will probably win, the banshees spin wildly.

If flat land and sand with paddles, the banshee will usually just edge out the 4 strokes.

When talking hills the banshee really shines, they just pull great on the hills where most 4 strokes are downshifting the banshee is upshifting.

However the new 450, is surprising. It pulls hills better then most 4 strokes I have seen.

Now I am talking modded machines, I have never owned a stock machine, except when loading it at the dealer. stock for stock I would say the raptor probably has an edge. Top speed is very close.

Stock Vs. Stock the Raptor is faster. after mods it goes either way depending on what extent.

I raced my friends shee sunday night and beat him by a little more than one length.....he has reeds, fattys, boost bottle, blah blah blah...........all the external shiz......+ a cool head and he runs pump gas like me..........
but he blew it up last night and it is now in the shop getting ready for a 404 kit.....
I think I will get smoked then......

 

I'am totally impressed by my Banshee and even when stock I felt it had more top end then my Raptor did stock, but now that it is ported and running CPI pipes with 300 mains it's a rocket waiting to take off. I have noticed that 2 stokes are very pickie with the jetting and if they are run even slightly lean this makes them run flat at the top even with good aftermarket pipes and greatly increases the chance of it blowing it up which may have been the cuase of Bigscary's friend, it's a good thing to check the jetting on a regular basis especially with the 404 stroker kit your bud is going to invest in, run the jetting as fat as possible till it blurbers and back down one size,
JMO of cheap insurance.

 

Niether one is fast stock.
