How loud is your YFZ?
#11
In ads I have seen,HMF is advertising a quiet core insert for all there pipes that they claim is 91 dB with 95 % of the power of the standard slip on they offer. How they can get it that quiet and keep the hp up there is a mystery to me. Any one have any experience with the HMF quiet core?

I’ve delt with HMF on my predator. It was loud!! I bought the quiet core in and it still blew 99 at idle and 102 at 4000 RPM. I told them my problems and they bought it back from me. I have recently talked with them about these issues and if they occur with their YFZ exhaust, and yes, still too loud on the YFZ even with quiet core. They say the quiet core only produces those results with 400cc and under machines. The bigger bores and utilities are hardly phased by the quiet core. They told me that by just after the first of the year, they should have a redesigned elliptical can that will keep the majority of the power, but cut down on the noise to the needed 96db or lower!

Yeah, I'm sure it will, but I hope that doesn't imply me buying 5 different systems trying to find one that is really under 98db. If HMF can produce a better QC, then I will be all over that. Other wise I have had thoughts of the W/B e-series, as well as even the GYT-R or Yoshi pipe. I think just to go the cheap route, I will look at just the slip-on to start with. I want to stick money other places as well. I was surfing the LRD website, and see they offer revalving for YFZ suspension for $300, as well as Long travel conversion for around $500. Don't know if that's per shock or total, haven't called to find out really. I think my stock suspension will do fine this next season!
