Is it bad to change the rev limit?
#1
My Raptor is having a little work done: High compression piston, stage 2 cam, valves, port and polish. I've seen the cdi replacement that will bump up the rev limit. Isn't that a bad idea to do it or is it ok and an improvement? I bought one but not sure if I should install it when the Rap is done.

It wouldn't really hurt anything unless you like revving past 9000 rpm's. the rappy motor shouldn't ever hit the stock limiter even in a drag situation. the rappy motor peaks out at around 6500 rpm's not even near the stock limiter.

With what I'm having done, is it beneficial or just a waste of money? Also isn't the stock rev limit at 8000 and the new one raises it 1000. Whats the point of raising it by 1000 if the motor wont get there.
