Banshee pipe question
I know this is a atv forum but this still involves an atv. I have a 1975 Merc snowmobile. Its a 340. I was wondering if i could use pipes and silencers from a banshee on it. I think the banshee is a 350. I know ill have a hard time finding aftermarket pipes for a 75 merc. Now this sled is a bit far from stock but still has a stock moter. Ive mostly rebuilt the suspension. Withabout 12 inches in the back and 9 in the front. Ill have pics up soon. If you want pics now send a private message and ill email ya some.

Banshee pipe question
Banshee's are liquid cooled. The common aftermarket pipe usually rev out to 9500 with peak power more in the 7500-8500 rpm range. Drag style pipe get into the 10500 to 12000 rpm. Your biggest issue will be how comparible is the bore and stroke of the 340 and whether it was really intended to run that kind of rpm. The pipe won't be much help if your motor won't rev that far or is turning 5000fps piston speed. The other issue is what is your clutching tuned to rev out at?

Banshee pipe question
well i dout a 1975 motar will ever turn 12000 rpm. stock it probably turns 6500 max. The clutch comes in about 3500 to 4000 rpm. I was kinda lookin for more low end torque but now im getting picky. Banshee pipe question
There is a 2 into 1 banshee pipe which was for more low end. Is this sled "snow twister" or just a mercury trail sled? If you happen to know the bore, stroke and rod length I could probably give you an idea of what kinda rpms its capable of as long as the ignition revs out and its clutched right. I've seen some good running trail 340's turning 8500 in the 1973 ski-doo free air's. Have you checked with any vintage sled clubs?
