rabbit chasing

I don't know if this is leagle, but it sure is a blast and a great way to improve your cornering skills. Last night I was out riding. All the fields are harvested and I was looking for deer tracks. I jumped this big ol jack rabbit and the chase was on. Man, those things can really move and they can reverse direction on a dime. It was a half mile freshly plowed field. The chase lasted for maybe ten minutes or less, but it seemed like hours. I finally had to let him go because I could hardley hang on to the handlebars. Going wide open in fifth gear then slamming on the breaks and down shifting and cranking into a turn then roosting out and back up to fifth. I'm sure the rabbit didn't appreciate it and the game warden probably wouldn't either, but it was a blast.

That's pretty funny. Kudos to you for being able to hang 10 mins with a jackrabbit. As far as the legalities (by the way it is spelled legal) of the matter, the only thing you could be fined for (assuming you aren't trespassing and have permission of the owner) is for the "harrassment of wildlife" which thanks to a 1998 bill is now ticketable here in Oklahoma and is one of those "at the discretion of the law enforcement official" kind of laws.

I LOVE doing that to squirrels, they can dart left and right so quick! its fun as crap, i have yet to hit one because they always jump off the side of the road before i can pin the gas and smash em. We hit one in the truck the other day, whew, it was hilarious.

No prob dude. I recommend field larks and quail. They dart quickly and make a pretty challenging chase. If you have an open area, try dove or kill-d's. The Kill-D's are really fun. They hang around running water (like riverbeds) and fly very low and very fast!

I chased cows once. They are too slow and can be messy.....don't follow too close. But I can see the fun in chasing Rabbits.

Jack rabbits are a blast and your right Starky they are incredibly agile. I chase them up in my area when they pop out but I usually don't get to far because they seem to know exactly where to exit a trail that makes impossible for you to follow. They may not like it much but think about it this way, you may just be helping them practice their moves to dodge their pretators. :-)

I'm still waiting for that jack rabbit to pop out at the dunes I'd run that thing to death. I ran into a fox once but it was so scared it just layedas flat as possible and didn't move. that takes the fun out of it so I let it go.

I was riding out in a field once and while flying around a corner a rabbit ran in front of me trying to get away, I tried to miss it but ran it over. I saw it roll like 10 times then it jumped up and took off like nothing happened. I was surprized it was ok. And some people call the raptor heavy...
