Edelbrock Carb
#1
I am thinking about getting the edelbrock carb kit for my rappy and wondered if anyone had one and had any opinions. they used one in dirt wheels on the Duncan racing quad and seemed to like it. I am sick of taking half the quad apart to rejet every time the weather changes 20 degrees. and anyone who lives in western Michigan knows that can be daily.
thanks.
thanks.

Dude, you are crazy to rejet every 20 degrees unless you are a pro racer and it is your living, which I doubt. I have an 02 Raptor and I have it jetted where I can go to the dunes in California, basically sea level, to 7000 feet elevation in Flagstaff, and riding in 110 degrees down to probably 40 degrees without rejetting. Normally I ride at 2000 foot elevation. The quad runs like a top throughout this entire elevation and temperature range with a single jet setting.

Check out the previous topics on the edelbrock carbs, seems opinions vary all over the map on this one. I thought about getting the edelbrock seriously because my Rappy basically didnt run for crap when I did the high elevation riding, way to rich. I took it to a shop that dialed in the jetting and intake, needed to loose the lid and get the pro design/K&N intake. It ran great after it got dialed in.

I would check out the FCR carburators, I have heard many good things about them except that they cost a mint $800+ I think. The Edelbrock isnt cheap either, I think around 730 with the thumb throttle. You may be experiencing problems that I dont have at the low temp limit. Usually its in the 50's during the coldest part of the winter, rode in snow once, but mostly hot, damn hot.

yeah sometimes it will even get into the negative temps here. I rode last year when it was in the 20's but all I had was the pipe, and k&n, and had no trouble. but I need so much more fuel now in the cold.

From what I have gathered, from asking around and talking to people who have the Edlebrock, it works good for a non-built motor but can't flow enough for a big motor. How Duncan got that one to work (if you beleive what you read in Dirt Doo) who knows.
Do a search in here, there is plenty of carb info. on the Edlebrock, FCRs, and I have a little on my Lectron.

You can't beat the Edelbrock for "the bang for the buck" as far as carb swaps go. It is simple to tune, easy to install, and makes more power everywhere.
The only downside, and for me this is a major issue, is the really stiff throttle.
BTW, did you post this question on another forum???

I got mine from Barnum's Pro for ~$515 shipped for the thumb throttle version (intro priced). Although they probably sell for around $600 now.
