Help with my 1992 Banshee
#3
Do yourself a favor and buy a repair manual for it. You will find everything you need at your fingertips and it will easily pay for itself in time saved on general maintainence. Also will give you ability to take on jobs you thought you couldn't do or save you money by showing you how to remove components that need service you cannot perform. It is much cheaper to take engine in than have dealer charge $40.00 per hour to remove it.

I run Bel Ray H1R at 50:1 with no problems. However, I have my piston domes ceramic coated, and the skirts coated with Swain Tech's PC-9. This ends piston scuffing, and the good oil protect the bearings, ect. Later.

A banshee crankcase should be filled with 1800cc's, which is almost 400cc'c more than what the factory reccomends. The cases were designed for street use so excessive trans oil slop was not anticipated. Therefore on a banshee while going up hills and under severe acceleration all the oil shifts to the back of the cases starving the input shaft for oil. This is why banshees eat 2,3,4 gears so much. As for premix, use whatever the oil manufactuer recommends and not what the factory suggests. Each oil is concentrated differently so what is right for one will differ to another. P.S. for butter smooth Banshee shifting buy a product by Speed Racing called a Rapid Fire Shift Star. It is available at Magic Racing 800-999-4594 and sells for $45.00. It is awesome and saves your transmission.
