the cannondale FX400 is a five speed four stroke. Yet with the fuel injection and reversed cylinder shortening the pipe by a foot and the air intake by a lot too, it very well could keep up with the Raptor in a drag. It is a 432cc right now, but cannondale might kick it up to a 450cc to really put the pressure on Yamaha.I think with the 450cc engine it would run around 50 horses.

What a Rocket!!!

94DGBlaster,
You're crazy....fuel injection will be 10 times less maintenance than a carb and all the jetting. I'd say 30% of questions posed on this forum are related to jetting issues. Look at the DS650...those poor suckers are having all sorts of problems getting the proper jets and with the wrong floats. Fuel Injection is taking ATV's into the future....I don't know why it's taken this long!

How do you figure it is faster that a DS650 in a drag race. At 350 pounds and 38 hp it will be very close. Your problem is you masquarade your personal opinions as fact. That is OK because nobody believes you anyhow. They don't want you in the Bombardier forum and we don't want you in here.

Lets just compare a Shelby Cobra to a Porsche here! C'mon guys these quads are geared towards two totally different markets. About as similar as a Scrambler 500 is to a 300EX. The Cannondale should excel at MX whereas the Raptor will be a great recreational ride.

That's for sure, I think the fact that the Raptor has reverse says it was never meant to compete with the Cannondale.

I think the fact that they put reverse on it is the reason they will sell a ton of them...because most of us aren't racers. And I"m no expert..but I doubt anything will come out of the crate ready to run with 20+ grand quads.....unless it's a 20+ grand quad itself! I think that the raptor is a quad that no one knows much about...but it's coming out for sure. I think the fx is a quad that no one knows much about..but it may never be out...if they're mx bikes are any comparison...Yamaha has been the first one to really offer the full package...the 400ex is undoubtedly great...I will probably wind up with a used one when the market opens up with them...but without reverse adn more power, I think you're looking at possibly the best all around quad out there..my opinion anyway..

I think you summed up the raptor perfectly, Yam will sell a ton of them. The reverse, even through I hate to admit it, is a great feature along with the electric start. After 22 years I am tired of horsing ATVs around. And yes, most of us are not racers-who can afford it? This looks like a most excellent bike?

I think the Cannondale does pose a small threat to the new Raptor, but a very small problem. The FX400 does look like quite a nice ATV but it's suggested retail price is $6,995. which is $500 more than a new Raptor where I live. And beside Yamaha built the Raptor for everyone not just racers and cross-country people. Cannondale is making their quad more race ready.
