thanks to you guys, I found my way to craycraft, talked to Bob, and ordered his 686 kit for my 2003 raptor. Bob is a great guy to do business with, I had tons of questions for him he was more than happy to answer all of them.

anyway here is a list of what I got from him.

- JE 11.1/102mm piston
- hotcam stage 2 cam
- the needed valve springs
- Hp head gasket set
- GYTR clutch with the needed gasket

I took the rappy to a local shop who did all of the instlation along with well done port and polish.
we broke the motor in and put it on the dyno with stock type 170/175 jets and needles put on the 4th slot from the top, air screws set at 2.75 turns out.

first ran, we got 58 hp with the air filter in and the led on (slightly cut)
we then took the air box led off along with the filter and 62.6 hp. I know those numbers seem to be a bit high, but hey, it sure made my happy.

so we thought it was running a bit rich, we droped the jets and put 165/170 jets and dynoed it again, and got pretty much the same numbers maybe a tad less, so I told them to put the 170/175 jets back and went home. I upped the jets yet one more step (175/180) just to be on the safe side, I have not done any plug chops yet. oh the dyno did not an A/F readings too. so I am not really sure if I am running a bit lean, however when we took the filter and the led off and got more power, that made me think that my jetting is ok, right?

btw, the new clutch is hella steff, that's normal right, I mean the springs looked steffer, so I guess that's normal.

what do you guys think of my jettings? for some reasons, 175/180 stock type jets (Mikuni) sp? seem to be a bit low, I am at the see level, but the temps are hella high (80 plus) and the weather is way too hummid here.

what you guys think?

Bob's a heck of a nice guy and it sounds like you've got a runner, congrats. What kind of dyno? Single roller or double? Sound like you are in the ballpark with jetting, how does the plug look?

Like a new machine isn't it?:-)

I just got back from a long ride. damn I love my rappy even more now.

here is what I found out, I told you guys that I changed the jetting even higher, I went from 170/175 to 175/180. well that looked good yesterday (did not ride the bike for more than 2 mins) but today, right after the bike warmed up, it started bogging and all, which made me know for sure that I was running rich with those jets, so I put the 170/175 back and she was all good. I still need to look at the plug tho. I tried with my cousin's shee that has all of the bolt on's (pipes, open filters, reeds, spacers, cool head, direct carbs cables, simply all of the good stuff) and I was all over him. but the trip ended not so good, the damn carb boots pooped out. no big deal tho.

the dyno was a Single roller type, and they used their own tires (look like street tires), and yes the bike feels like a new bike, low end is good, but high end kicks a$$, it just keeps going till it hits the rev limiter.

about the clutch, it went softer on me, I guess the springs just needed some riding to get soft.

thanks again guys, and thanks Bob once again

Run your idle kind of high so that wont happen and change the clutch to a gyt-r,if it hasent got hot yet it well, and you will be missing shifts or the clutch will be to hard and stiff, glad you like it i love mine, had to change out the piston this week because i got a hole in mine..oh yea, first problem after about 10- 11 ride on her and good ones, everything looked great but the piston...

Why did you melt a hole in your piston? Were you lean?

talked to Bob and we believe that i need to run higher octane or i wasent getting the fuel i needed up the big hill races at Glamis, have the carb mods done but still aint enough i guess, going to be adding a second fuel line and try a mix of 91 and a little VP4,or just run VP red all the time...Thought i could run 91 on my 11:1 but i couldent ,ran great all weekend untill this,i had like 12 solid rides on it and then this,im going with the 12:1 now and doing the signature craycraft686 before the new year.. I have the mild set up as we speak and she is real quick..

Everything else on the bike looked great and is still in great shape...Im the second 686 with the exact same problem that i had, hope it get's fixed real quick
