Raptor Gearing
#1
Right now I have stock sprockets/2002 tranny. I pull 3rd easily up the hills with 20" 8 paddle tires. The question is, should i gear it down and pull 4th, or gear it up a bit and pull 3rd a little harder? Just want some opinions on what others are doing.

I have the same paddle size as you and I'm gonna try 12/42 sprockets and run 4th gear. If This works for me then I'll be able to run a 12/40 for when the sand is dry.

I was thinking the same thing, If i wanted to pull 3rd harder, i would prolly just jump down 2 teeth on the rear to pull 3rd harder(Doubt I would be able to pull 3rd with 14t front). I ordered a 12t and am going to see how it works out, was hoping to do it this saterday, but i doubt the sprocket will arrive on time. Maybe ill make a day trip during the week. If I dont like the way the 12t is working out, ill just pull 3rd harder with either 1 or 2 teeth drop on the rear sprocket.
