Raptors are a great quad.
37HP
And they run around 78 mph.
They are very reliable and a great trail quad. Throw and a pipe on one and you have a ton of torque and a great power increase. They are a great quad and a steal at under $6000 out the door.

i say z400, YFZ450 (not if your trail riding), or TRX 450(non-trail riding). if you trail ride the z400 or a raptor would be a good choice, some people also like the ease of a v force but i like to do my own shifting.

My vote for best all around quad goes to the Z400.

well a used 28hp 65mph 400ex is ALOT cheaper than any other modern quad but it is a little slower than the z400 but not by much, just 3-4hp and 3-4 mph difference but a 400ex can easily keep up with the z with a few mods but i you are going to buy a new quad, buy a z400

Z-400 very good quad!! + you have reverse for trails Raptors are awsome quads but for a first quad the z-400 is great!
