Default Raptor Problem

I have had my Raptor for 6 Months now and I wanted more Top Speed so I went and bought a 14 tooth Front Sprocket and I kept the rear the same. My quad is stock. It was doing 77 Stock then I put a 14 tooth on and now it is only doing 73. Everyone said it is suppose to go faster when u go up to a 14 in the front. I have no idea whats going on. Anyone know anything about it. please write back thanks

The 14 tooth is not letting your engine rev. Sometime a little lower gearing will give you a better top speed, it depends on what your engine likes.

This is not a surprise....especuially with the overdrive 5th gear ratio of the Raptor. Your engine must have enough high RPM power too actually "pull" the higher gearing for more peak HPM. This is a classic example of more gearing will not necessarily create more top speed. Your Raptor may actually have a higher top speed with a 12 tooth front with all else the same...

so i should go with a 12 tooth on front now. I just want my quad to reach 80 by just regearing it or just changing sprockets. My dealer said a 14 would do it. But it didnt happen

You will need other mods like the others have stated. You dont have the power to pull a higher top end speed, not many raptors can top out in 5th in stock config.

Most people change sprockets to move shiftpoints or get more useable power on a certain terrain or at specific speeds.

try a 41 tooth rear sprocket with that 14 it will make alot of diff and youl be able to produce more rpms therefore more top speed and still have a little taller gearing than stock

Go down hill. Raptors don't have enough power to rev out in rth in stock form. Be happy you're getting to 77mph. If you weren't hitting the rev limiter in 5th with the stock gearing (you won't unless you're going down hill) then try going up 1 tooth at a time in the rear until you acheive your 80 mph or start hitting the rev limiter. Once you can hit the rev limiter if you still can't get to 80mph then go back down 1 tooth on the rear and be happy.
