Default Starter one way?

I have an 02 Raptor and this last trip to Gordens Well, when I went to start it maybe 1 out 10 times it would miss or clunk. I figure this the famous one way going bad. Now should I change it now or will it go out with grace or just stop working all together.

If it's going out go ahead and change it, the worse it gets, the more metal it sheds off into your engine. Get the L&A designs one way so you don't have to worry about it again

Highly recommend the L&A one-way, and as stated already, I'd go ahead and do it now. Before it leaves you on the side of the trail/dune. Mine went out gradually, but I wouldn't chance it.

Change it ASAP, mine went out gradually but my buddies left him in the dunes and had to be towed out.

Yup, change it quick, luckily its located directly nexted to the magneto on the crank so most of the metal shards are collected from the magnet(make sure you clean those off). You are gunna need an 8mm socket to get off cover, a torque wrench (up to like 110 foot pounds i think it is), a large socket (if i remember correctly 22mm), an impact gun (to make taking the crank nut off a whole lot easier), you'll need a 5mm hex socket because you'll have to torque it down and last but not least you will need a 3 bolt pattern flywheel puller. Napa sells a harmonic balancer puller for 18 bucks which is the same exact thing but it doesnt come with the right size bolts, so while you're there make sure you pick em up. But before you work on internal engine stuff you better make sure you have a service manual for torque specs and just to help you through the job. Don't make the mistake of not torqueing those bolts down cause you'll pay for it later, either they'll come loose or you'll try to hard and strip em. Oh and don't forget to drain the oil first. good luck
