Quad runs rich could it be a problem in future?

I have a 2000 Yamaha Blaster with a new top end and several mods. The problem I am concerned about is it runs rich. Could that be a problem that I should be concerned about or is it ok?

Running rich may not give you the absolute max power you can get...but it is more reliable. If you are running rich, the worst you will do is foul spark plugs more often...it's lean that blows the engine. If you think you are running rich, just back down 1 size on your main jet and you should be right on. Read your plug, it will tell you. Listen you your engine on the top end. If it misses under acceleration, it's rich. If you hold the throttle at constant speed on top and the quad lunges, it's lean cause it itsn' getting consistant fuel. If it screams...your right on! That's what sucks about jetting, it's more trial and error than science!

The only problem I have with it other than the smell of the exhaust from the rich fuel mixture is, once you take off from a dead stop it 'bogs' a little because of the plug and cylinder has been loadded up with fuel from it ideling. But once you get going it soon burns up the extra fuel and it smoothes out, but you have to ride it a ways down the road first. The plugs use to foul more often but now they last a little longer. Can't figure that one out. I still use the stock plug NGK B8ES with a Boysen Rad Valve, stock carb with bigger main jet, new top end, board about 40 over with new Pro-X piston and rings, and a Pro Circuit Platinum Pipe. I LOVE THAT SOUND.
What about running a hotter or colder plug? Would that make a difference? I was told to stay with the stock plug from the guys at Yamaha, but, the ones, around here are more into it for a job than the knowledge or love for it. They have been wrong before.
When I purchased the quad the past owner was running a NGK-R BR9EG with the stock reeds and reed cage. What do you think?

Its not bad you run rich. your just wasting power. Thats all. I would go down on the main 1 size, and i would also disconnect the oil injector if not already done because they fail and also it makes your bike rich, because it uses to much oil.

That is my next step on what I need to do to the quad. First I will try to decide as to what to do about the rich and the use of different plug other than the stock NGK-B8ES.
