Wouldn't it be cool for someone to put the 660 raptor powerplant into a 450 chassis since it is so light? I was thinking about this and wonder why yamaha didn't just use the raptor motor instead of putting r&d into a new motor.

the yfz engine took a lot of r&d time, and has amazing power for its size....

to put a 660 engine in a 450 frame would be lame...

the raptor motor is too tall for the YFZ frame.

The single biggest reason they didnt do that. Was because this bike was made strictly for mx. They have a 450cc limit to motors.

I wont be surprised if yamaha does some modding to the Raptor for 2005. Getting the bikes weight down some and bumping the horsepower in the motor.
