Why is it that the 2 stroke has been done away with other than shee and gas gas? Enviro? Reliablity? Both? Just curious.

 

A litle bit reliability but the driving factor for the USA was the E.P.A. and tree huggers.

 

well they couldnt continue on with production because the pistons were costing too much for customers and they were unreliable so they stopped...

Come on 4eva.....contribute something productive if your gonna comment. Thats about a worthless pile of crap if I ever heard it. Two stroke are less expensive to maintain than thumpers. More moving parts mean more to replace. The older 4-stroke designs did go longer between rebuilds than their 2-stroke counterparts, but with the new generation thumpers they need just as much maintnance as 2strokes. The REAL deal is that as some else said its from the EPA putting pressure on the manufacturers to make thumpers instead of 2strokes. And of course the tree huggers.... Yep, the 2 strokes are supposed to be bad for the enviroment.

 

Companies are working on different, more enviro friendly versions of the 2 stroke. I don't think we will loose the 2 stroke alltogether.....but probably a different version than we see now.

 

ROTFLMAO!!!!!! MAAAANN This is soooo true but yet soooooo hillarious!!!!!!! I could picture it!! I could picture it like this----------->> A big camp fire with a buncha groupies sitting around with no other than Bill Clinton sitting right there in the center closest to the center of the fire, there is about a pound of that 'stuff' in the immediate area.. Ol Bill rolls up a big fat one, and says yeah "I remember when.............................................. ............." Then he says, "Monica, uh Monica where is Monica?"

On a more serious note however, Nothing against California or anything but unless I am gravely mistaken, this is where the root of the tree huggers are and so forth, I find it sooooo odd that there are so many hydrocarbons located beneath the earths' surface and they could get out of debt soooooo fast and there would be no ENERGY CHRISIS there if only they would let the oil companies drill there!! BUT they will not, so they must pay these astronomical prices for oil/gas because of there stubbornness!! Man, if you give a tree hugger a little responsibility he totally screws up everything!! I ofetn ponder if anything could/would be done about this tree-hugging situation... Apparently tree huggers have smoked way too much 'ganga' therefore there cognitive rationale is permanently distorted and they are all destined for the asylum....
