Raptor help
#1
OK, you guys have alway come through in the past...here's your next test:
My 02 Rappy was running great, so in an effort to get just that "little extra" out of it, I shaved the air restrictors out of the air box tunnel (I live at 6200 feet tand thought the extra air might help a little bit, even though it was already running great, dumb....I know). Now there's a little hesitation in acceleration (I can tell she needs more fuel) and a little popping on the top end.
THE TEST: How is the best way to equate the excessive air now coming in? Change the jets, or move the clip down one or two notches on the main?
I'd certainly appreciate any tips on how to complete your suggestion. I'm extremely mechanically inclined...ON HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES! lol
Thanks again for your help, and have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season.

Depending on how much you shaved, but I would say you need to move the clips on the needles. If that doesn't help, you'll have to maybe go up on the jets. But moving the clips should fix your problem. Sounds like your running lean and not getting enough fuel.

It sounds like you need to adjust the pilot screw out to approximately 2-3 turns somewhere in there I dont know exactly but anything above 3 turns that means you need a bigger pilot jet. Something you will have to experiment with to find the right combo for what you have. Hesitation means its not out enough, bogging means out too much. If its popping at wide open throttle then you need more main jet\s. Stockers are I believe 140/145. To eliminate some headache and trips to the store order up a series of jets to tryout or go the expensive way and buy a jet kit. That also depends on mods. Maybe you should post all your mods to help someone get you into the ballpark the first time. In most cases from reading and experience the needle clip does not get moved all that often so your 3 biggest factors are pilot jet/screw setting and main jet.

OK, here's the breakdown on the scooter: White Bros. E-Series exhaust
K&N air filter
original jets out, 135/140 in
I figured she needs more fuel, just asking you guys the fastest/easiest way to get in in there.
ps...what's the best way to get at that clip?
