This has made for some interesting reading and i can see that some people do not see enough 440exs drag race to see what a properly (tuned) one can do.I would not claim that my wifes 440 would run as fast as yours SPEEDMN but it is fun to watch what it can do to a raptor if the raptor doesnt take her seriously enough in a drag race.I have worked very hard to dial my wifes 440 in and we found a very good mix of 110 octane fuel and 92 pump gas that gained her quite a bit of performance and i will continue to tweak here and there until i am sure i can do no better. As an example a few weeks ago i asked the wife to race me on the sand flats while i was on my baja 650 and although it is stock they are known to be a good top end quad, well i could not catch her even after a quarter mile or so and that is a good showing for a 440 against a 650.I also have a 686 raptor that does very well for such a mild build and if i dont do everthing just right in a 300 foot drag race she can beat me on her 440 so the spankings you are handing out dont sound too far fetched to me.While i am no expert tuner i have learned that if you pay attention to all the little things(jetting-fuel-tires-suspension-air pressure)they can add up to a lot better performance than most would imagine.

duneittilludie you are correct about the tuning part. I have found that most people just get on their bikes and ride without really doing any tuning whatsoever. This is especially true of 2-stroke riders. Alot of people just don't understand how the carb and motor work for proper performance. I spend alot of time tuning my bikes so they run at their best and it helps if you have a friend who has been in the industry for a long time and has his own shop with a flow bench and a dyno that you can use anytime.

I feel anyone who dumps $4000 to $6000 in there engine better run, but if you can't get it to the ground it is a waste of money. I bet it makes wheelies easy!!!
A properly tuned quad whether its a 250cc or 720cc could take on almost anything.

Hey Ernie660r how are you? Say hello to 14mins for me. I hate to say this but I only have about $1500 in my 440ex but I guarantee you I can get the power to the ground.

It also helps that, that particular "friend", builds all your motors and is one of the best at doing so.

RAPTORYMF660R, I can't remember that one. When I was LA Dunes in October there was a 250 Honda Three Wheeler giving it hell to everybody up the hill. Everyone just stayed out of his way because we couldn't tell which way he was going.
Speeddmn, if you have $1500 in the engine and running that well, Congrats to you sir. I have beaten 440EX's and I have been beaten by 440EX's, so there is nothing I have to prove. Good luck to you in your future races and maybe one day will shall meet up. I will pass the message on to 14mins.
