200-300 bucks for a decent one, I have the Garmin eTrex Vista and it is a very nice unit, I think mine was a little over 300 if I remember right.

mine was around 250, but that was a few years ago. You can find some for under 200 easy, but they won't have maps or upgradeable databases etc

http://www.thegpsstore.net/gps_units_handheld1.asp I bought mine from these guys. Very friendly

http://www.gpscity.com/ has good prices on RAM mounts

http://www.cycoactive.com/ They have great prices on RAM parts too. I have ordered several parts from them. What they didn't have, GPSCity did

Does anyone know of a GPS that you can punch in Lat. Longs. and list as waypoints. Not with the use of the computer program, just by looking at a map, picking a spot, and punching in the coordinates.
Seems like a simple idea but nobody can tell me what GPS has this feature.

I can do that on my garmin eTrex and it's the basic $100 one. I'm sure almost all can have waypoints entered that way.

Do you mind giving me a quick explanation of how to do it. For all I know, mine does it also, I just don't know how to figure it out.
I have a Garmin GPS 48. It's similar to the 12 but has the detachable external antenna. It's about 5 or 6 years old.

I also have a Garmin E-trex and you can punch in Lat. & Longs and have a waypoint. For $100 it is a good purchase if you plan to go remote. I believe that Garmin also makes a two way radio with built in gps which is a great idea if you ride for hunting.

What speed can you get up to on the E-trex?

If you scroll thu the menu you should find waypoints and enter there. Most GPSs only go to about 100 mph, I think they did this so people wouldn't use the ones made for surface use in planes.

I guess 6 years is pretty old for a GPS. Mine only records speed up to about 67 too. That Etrex is starting to look pretty good. Thanks for the help.
