banshee vs raptor

i am wanting to buy a new quad just for riding around and having fun on but i want to be able to spank my load mouth brother in laws @zz on the drag strip he has a stock raptor that he has no plans on doing anything with and i think that a piped banshee should do the trick but i am kind of worried about the life span of the moter so how long should a piped banshee go without needing the head boared or some other major repair??

banshee's are exceptionally reliable machines with proper maintnace.

Id say go with the banshee over the raptor. a stock shee will beat a raptor off the line and if you pipe the shee and add the intake and jetting you should be able to unleash the HP that the stock banshee has hidden inside it. Only top end rebuilds are nessisary (rings and seals) every once and a while. thats not to dificult or expensive depending on how good with engines you are. As long as you jet it right and take reguar maitnence on it it shouldnt be trouble at all and youll spank the raptor and sound a hellofa lot better screamin down the drag strip

I have no idea what machine would win in a drag. A stock Banshee or a stock Raptor. I hear many different stories and one wins one time and the other wins the other time. If however one is piped and the other is not, then I know that they will definately beat the other one.

Just for reference:...I bought my banshee in 1997. I rebuilt the motor in 1999. (bore, pistons rings ~$200)
....I am in the process of doing it again due to loss of compression in one cylinder.
I would say that twice in 6 years is not that bad....As a side note. Neither time did I have to rebuild due to a grenaded piston or major failure....just normal wear on the cylinders causing a low compression situation.
The banshee is as reliable as the person maintaining it. Regular oil changes...consistant fuel/oil mixture...and proper jetting will ensure a long lasting banshee.

If your looking to be putting around besides the race with your Brother in law I say go with or Raptor 4-stroke. Otherwise you'll be spending more time at the shop buying spark plugs than you will be riding. At least that's how my buddy's is.
